‘People do this all the time and I don’t blame them’: Man uses his Kohl’s credit card at checkout. Then he pulls an UNO Reverse

A man goes to Kohl’s to buy a few shirts and heads to the register to check out. He decides to use his Kohl’s credit card to get a discount. Then, he asks the cashier to do one more thing to make sure he doesn’t get charged interest.
In a video with over 89,000 views, TikToker Pucksnpoker (@pucksnpoker) walks around his neighborhood, recounting the recent transaction at Kohl’s.
“I get to the check out and she’s like, ‘That’ll be $30. Would you like to use your Kohl’s card?'” he says.
The TikToker explains that he initially told her he wanted to pay in cash. But she counters by warning him that he’d be missing out on a 30% discount. He says he left his Kohl’s card at home, and she offers to look it up for him using his driver’s license.
“I hand her my driver’s license. She rings it up and she says, ‘That’ll be $22.17,'” he continues.
However, he decides to use his cash after all with this clever trick.
“I said, ‘OK, I’d like to make a payment on my credit card.’ She says, ‘How much would you like to pay?'” he says. “I said, ‘$22.17.”
What’s the interest rate on the Kohl’s credit card?
According to WalletHub, the Kohl’s credit card has a variable interest rate. That means that the rate you signed on with can change due to factors like your credit score or the economy.
On Reddit, some Kohl’s credit card users report interest rates of over 30%, which is higher than many store credit cards.
Kohl’s credit cards add an additional 7.5% off every purchase in-store, with 15 to 30% special discounts several times per year. However, some say that the discounts aren’t worth the risk of carrying a balance on the high-interest credit card.
Do other shoppers use his clever trick?
In the comments, other shoppers say they also refuse to carry a balance on store credit cards to avoid interest racking up.
A viewer says, “I did the same thing that’s the best way to do it so I don’t have a running total on a card I hardly ever use.”
“I always use my macys card. pay next day on my APP. never pay interest,” another shares.
Kohl’s workers even weigh in on the credit card hack.
“I worked at Kohls as a cashier. This is normal. People do this all the time and I dont blame them. Save money and take care of that CC bill now, no interest,” one writes.
