‘Nothing could’ve prepared me’: Kentucky woman gets job as a wedding coordinator. Then the groom texts her that there’s an ’emergency’

Working as a wedding coordinator isn’t always peaches and cream. No matter how hard you try to bring the couple’s vision to life, a mishap or few are bound to occur. It’s a never-ending stressful game of Whac-A-Mole, if you will. Once you think you’ve seen it all, you’re proven wrong time after time again.
And a fashion emergency wasn’t what this wedding planner expected.
What Did This Wedding Coordinator Discover?
Kentucky-based TikToker and wedding coordinator Morgan Hulette (@morganhulette) shows 8.2 million viewers her perspective of “when the groom calls you and says there’s an emergency.”
At first, she is walking down a staircase with the Maid of Honor in tow, the clicking of high heels echoing. “Is it the popcorn machine?” the Maid of Honor asks off-screen, assuming what the issue is.
When the content creator opens the door, she stops in her tracks, her jaw drops, and she claps her hand over her mouth in shock at the sight. Instantly, calmness replaces the panic, striding toward the emergency.
“OK. That’s fine,” she says, coolly as she resumes her stride. When she flips the camera though, it isn’t the popcorn machine with the problem but rather the bride, Madison Gould (@madisongould_), standing in front of her seat, her white dress splattered in burgundy wine stains.
How Common Are Wedding Wardrobe Malfunctions?
Every bride wants to feel confident in the wedding dress of her dreams. However, a wardrobe malfunction can easily shatter self-esteem, transforming the special day into a nightmare. Believe it or not, it happens more often than you think.
There are dozens of articles listing potential mishaps and DIY methods to resolve them. Since bridal stylists are all too aware of these, bridal stylists keep on hand an emergency kit consisting of removing wipes, fashion tape, scissors, and a mini sewing kit as preventive measures, according to The Knot. But if you don’t intend to have a stylist on your crew, the outlet recommends assigning someone to pack the items.
What Did Viewers Think?
A crisis like this would’ve sent most brides sobbing and their wedding party into a frenzy. So, this is why many in the comments section applauded both the women’s reactions to the situation.
“He knew exactly who to call,” one viewer applauded.
“The switch to wedding coordinator mindset was amazing,” another complimented
A third praised, “The fact that she’s not in tears is a miracle she is a queen.”
“Omg how is she holding this together,” a fourth stated.
Since viewers were hooked, they begged for an update.
“As a wedding planner I won’t sleep until I get an update. Preferably the dress designer hand delivered a fresh dress within ten minutes via helicopter,” one commenter said.
“I must know how this was fixed,” a second echoed.
How Did This Happen?
Viewers pleaded, and the wedding coordinator obliged. As she applied her makeup, Hulette painted the scene of how this happened during cocktail hour while the couple was enjoying a private dinner in the wine cellar.
When she received the call, she didn’t think much about it. “Knowing the bride and groom, honestly, I thought it was a joke which was why I was recording,” she said in a follow-up video. “Immediately, I grabbed the Maid of Honor, who is also my best friend and I told her what the groom had said. But really, nothing could have prepared me for what I was about to walk in and look at.”
Despite the speculations, the only person who spilled the wine on the dress was the bride herself. With the reception dress on standby, a quick outfit change saved the night.
“She spilled it onto herself during dinner. We had her take it off, we had club soda, we blotted it as much as we could out and the venue staff had given us a bucket of ice water with some stain remover and had the dress soak,” the content creator recalled. “She, thankfully, had a reception dress but she changed a little bit early.”
Because the stain was too big, it’s up to the dry cleaners to remove it. “I [ended] up taking the dress yesterday to the dry cleaner. We will have the wedding dress back in a month.” Before wrapping up, Hulette stressed the importance of choosing the right wedding entourage.
“Make sure to have amazing people around you on your wedding day. Everyone handled the situation with so much grace and it was such a beautiful, perfect, wedding day,” she said.
@morganhulette The best part is him saying “Thank goodness it didn’t spill on me. I have to return this suit” ??
