LA Woman Drops Controller for Personal Treadmill and Realizes She Literally Can’t Get Off: ‘Am I Supposed to Call 911?’

Sometimes overthinking can really make life more difficult than it should be. One woman on TikTok found this to be true after she claimed she got stuck on a treadmill in her home. While you may rightfully wonder how one ends up in such a predicament and question why she couldn’t just jump off, the woman’s reasons for not doing so make sense.
TikToker Hannah Martinez-Montes posted the video from her living room, showing her walking on a personal treadmill. “Guys, I’m so scared right now,” she says, “I’m stuck on this treadmill, this little personal treadmill.” Montes points her phone down to show her walking on the treadmill, which she explains isn’t hers but rather belonged to a friend from whom she borrowed it.
Montes claims that the treadmill was operated by a remote control, which she had accidentally dropped while walking. “I’ve been on this thing for 45 minutes, and I don’t know how to get off of it,” she says.
While she may be unable to turn it off, she could potentially jump off. However, Montes says she had recently been in a car accident, causing an injury to her knee. The whole reason she had borrowed the treadmill in the first place was to allow her to get used to walking again.
Montes’ main concern is causing further injury to herself by jumping off, as she says, “Do you ever just like, truly know yourself, and you know that you’re clumsy, and you know you’re gonna mess something up? You just know you’re gonna hurt yourself.” In the end, she decides her only option is to wait for her husband to come home, which will take two hours.
Overthinking can make things scarier
While she initially decided to wait for rescue, her second video from the treadmill shows she’s been walking for 77 minutes, and it’s getting tiring. Ultimately, she decides to hop off, and after taking a minute to psych herself up, she does so without injuring herself. As a matter of fact, she makes it look pretty easy.
We’ve seen people have to escape after being locked in a gym, but having to escape from a treadmill in your own home is definitely a new one.
While it might seem like a ridiculous predicament to be in, commenters on TikTok understood her pain. “Overthinking things after an injury is such a real thing,” wrote one commenter. “I guess the moral of [the] story is the only thing that [is] holding you back is your own fear,” wrote another.
Montes’ situation also showed a rather significant design flaw in the treadmill, although it’s difficult to think about how such a situation could be avoided; perhaps a wrist strap on the remote could make things easier.
