‘Don’t tell her I said this’: Texas woman goes on date with man. Then their server does something sneaky while she’s in the bathroom
When you go out to eat, you expect your server to be friendly. But there’s a line. According to one Texas woman, a server crossed it during a first date, and not in a subtle way.
In a video that has garnered over 491,400 views, TikTok creator Samantha (@samanthahaines2.0) shares how a server may have ruined her chances with a first date.
What Did The Server Do?
“The other day, I went on a first date,” she says, explaining that things initially felt promising.
“I feel so pretty. I have a good time… we like each other,” she says, adding that the date took place at Postino’s in The Woodlands.
She says the server stood out early on.
“The waitress that we have is super bizarre,” she recalls. “She says to me, she’s like, ‘Oh, I’m bisexual, by the way.’”
She and her date weren’t sure how to take it. Still, she says the night continued without major issues until she stepped away.
“So I go to the bathroom,” she says.
While she was gone, the server spoke directly to her date.
“She’s like, ‘What’s your name?’… and then she goes, ‘Don’t tell her I said this,’” Samantha says the date recalled.
According to her, the server then made a comment about her appearance.
“She told him that I look like Gypsy Rose,” Samantha says.
For context, Gypsy Rose Blanchard is known because of a highly publicized criminal case. She recently came back to the limelight after being released from prison after serving 8 and a half years.
Samantha says her date didn’t immediately understand the reference.
“He thinks it’s a pornstar,” she says. But once he looked it up, she says he found it funny.
“I see this little smirk come over his face,” she says. “That is the meanest thing.”
What upset her most wasn’t just the comment itself, but when it was made.
“You waited until I went to the bathroom to say that about me behind my back to my date,” she says.
Despite what happened, she says her date wasn’t all that bothered.
“He still wants to see me,” she says, adding that she still feels upset.
“I cried,” she says. “Crazy date.”
Commenters Say the Server Crossed A Line
In the comments section, many viewers agreed that the server’s behavior was out of bounds.
“That’s so inappropriate,” one person wrote.
“I went to Lulu with my guy at the time, and the lady was just pushing me… while I was in the dressing room the girl was chatting with the guy telling him ‘if this doesn’t work give me a call’ and she left him her number,” another shared.
“Not me about to go to Postinos and look for Kristen,” a third added.
What Should You Do In This Situation?
If you have a negative experience with a server, the quickest step is to bring it up with management. Explain what happened and give the restaurant a chance to address the issue directly.
According to Food & Wine, most servers do their best to keep things running smoothly and create a good experience for guests. In this case, however, as Samantha describes it, the interaction came across as intentional and crossed a professional boundary.
