Donald Trump demands the GOP oust one of its own in a shocking move driven by his latest vendetta

President Donald Trump attacked GOP Rep. Thomas Massie in a political rally in Hebron, Kentucky. Massie, an incumbent, is running for re-election despite the president’s mudslinging.
“Massie voted against tax cuts for seniors, he voted against overtime workers, and he voted against tax cuts for tip earners. No, he wanted to increase the taxes,” Trump alleges in reference to the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ act. He also cited that Massie voted against increased funding for border security.
To add to Trump’s grievances, Massie also voted against H.R. 5371, which led to the subsequent government shutdown. Massie is of the opinion that it was merely a continuation of Biden’s last budget and had “DOGE-identified waste.”
“Thomas Massie is a disaster from our party. He comes from a state that I won by a landslide,” said Trump. The president won 64.5% of the votes in Kentucky in the 2024 presidential election.
“We’ve got to get rid of this loser. This guy is bad. He’s disloyal to the Republican Party, he’s disloyal to the people of Kentucky, and most importantly, he’s disloyal to the United States of America,” Trump said, urging voters to vote Massie out of his position.
Trump opted to back Massie’s opponent, former SEAL Ed Gallrein, for the primary. He said of Gallrein, “Give me someone with a warm body to beat Massie. And I got somebody with a warm body, but a big, beautiful brain and a big patriot.”
A record of Massie’s ‘disloyalty’
Massie has been going against the grain in comparison to his Republican colleagues. He caught the ire of Trump early on in 2025 when he opposed the Big Beautiful Bill. The congressman was not against tax cuts but thought that the proposed bill backed by Trump could increase deficits.
“This bill is a debt bomb ticking. Congress can do funny math, fantasy math, if it wants, but bond investors don’t,” Massie says in 2025. He warned that the bill could inflate debt close to $30 trillion in the next ten years.
“I’m coming at you like you’ve never seen. Never in your life before have you seen the way in which I will come at you. I’m more popular than you in Kentucky, and you know it. I’m backing your opponent, and you’re going to lose,” Massie claims in a podcast interview with the Patriot Feed. He claims Trump threatened him after he voted against the Big Beautiful Bill.
Massie has also strongly advocated for the release of the Epstein files. Along with Rep. Ro Khanna from California, Massie backed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, which required the Department of Justice to publish files in their possession related to Jeffrey Epstein’s investigation and prosecution.
Trump signed the bill but railed against the release of the files in 2025 prior to signing.
But most notably, Massie is an open critic of the Iran War. He debated the War Powers Act and argued that striking Iran is unjustified and must be voted on in Congress. The Trump administration has been scrambling for a justification against its strikes on Iran—a move that has been unpopular thus far.
Disloyal to the United States or to Donald Trump?
Trump has made it clear that he disliked Massie’s opposition to bills and policies that other Republicans voted for with their eyes closed. With Trump referring to Massie’s opponent as a “warm body,” which he backed, it’s evident that compliance is the president’s priority.
But asking tough questions does not make Massie treasonous or disloyal to his country. He may not be loyal to Trump, but that doesn’t matter—because Trump is not America.
