Nurse asks coworker to witness a medicine disposal that she already threw away. The coworker never spoke to her again: ‘I GOT A LICENSE’

She wasn’t playing.

Nurse refuses to sign as witness for disposal of a medicine that was already gone.

In the medical world, a signature is not just ink on paper. It is a legal bond and a vow of accuracy. For TikTok creator and nurse Angel (@angeltrensetta), that vow was tested during a routine shift. Rightfully, she chose her license over loyalty for a co-worker.

The incident happened when a coworker asked Angel to “vouch” for a disposal she never saw. With over 273,000 views, her response is a masterclass in holding the line on professional protocols. She stayed in line even when the cost was workplace tension.

A nurse requested Angel for a ‘blind’ witness signature

The confrontation began in the hospital med room when a coworker asked Angel to witness a medication waste. When Angel arrived at the Pyxis machine, the coworker already had the transaction pulled up and ready for a signature.

When Angel asked what she was supposed to be witnessing, the nurse explained she was “wasting half” of a tablet. However, she had already thrown the discarded half away before Angel arrived. So, Angel’s immediate response was:

How am I supposed to sign the witness if I didn’t see you break the tablet and throw the other half away?

The refusal sparked an immediate attitude shift

Despite being told “girl, I threw it away already,” Angel stood her ground. She refused to sign for an interaction she did not personally observe. She simply told the nurse, “no shade” but “I’m not signing it.”

Angel clarified that her refusal wasn’t an accusation of theft or wrongdoing. It was simply a strict adherence to the “two-nurse verification” rule. But instead of respecting her professionalism, the coworker reportedly became upset. She gave Angel an attitude, and walked away to find the charge nurse to sign off instead.

The nurse prioritized her license over workplace games

Angel ended her story by emphasizing that she no longer works at that facility. She was also unfazed by the fact that the nurse stopped speaking to her. “Don’t know what happened after that. Did not care. Did not follow up,” she revealed, calmly.

“How you mad that I don’t want to sign my name on a waste that I did not see hello?”

She also stressed that no matter how trustworthy a colleague seems, you should never sign your name to a procedure you did not witness. “Like we don’t even play them kind of games. I don’t care, I don’t care how trustworthy you seem, whatever the case may be,” she declared.

In healthcare, the “witnessing” process for controlled substances is a critical safeguard against drug diversion and medical errors. Most facilities require a second nurse to physically see the medication being removed from its packaging and the discarded portion being placed in a designated disposal container.

Signing for a waste you did not see is considered a falsification of medical records. If that medication were to later “turn up” or if an audit revealed a discrepancy, both nurses would be held legally and professionally liable. This may also potentially result in the loss of their nursing licenses.

Viewers on TikTok praised Angel’s integrity as a nurse

Angel got solidarity from fellow nurses in her comments section. Many also followed up with warnings about the consequences of “blind” signatures. “Good for you standing down! That’s your license!” one viewer remarked, highlighting the personal stakes involved.

“I know a nurse that used to witness… they eventually found the nurse passed out on the floor,” another shared, telling a chilling cautionary tale of drug diversion. “What you not gonna do is play with MYYYYYY license,” a third added, echoing Angel’s firm boundary.

Angel’s story is a reminder that in high-stakes environments, no shortcuts are fine. While an attitude might last for a shift, a license represents a lifetime of work.
