A U.S. Senator’s plan for peace? Threatening to blow Iranians into oblivion

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina

For Senator Lindsey Graham, peace can only happen if bombs are dropped on Iranians. It’s a small price to pay for cheaper oil and an Iran that’s compliant with the terms of the United States.

“All this money is to make sure that they never go nuclear. They can’t hit us with ballistic missiles, and they stop terrorizing the region,” Graham said in an interview with Fox News. Like many others on the administration’s side, he believes that Iran still has ambitions to develop nuclear weapons. Thus, to him, Trump’s ‘preemptive’ strike is justified.

“When this regime goes down, we’re going to have a new Mid-East. We’re going to make a ton of money. Nobody is going to threaten the Strait of Hormuz again,” Graham added. His words reveal a glaring insight into what the United States truly wants out of the war. The South Carolina senator spent some time framing the Iranian government as sponsors of terrorism. He put forth Trump as the only figure that can dictate the direction of the region after Iran falls.

“How does this end? It ends in victory. Donald J. Trump is going to bring this regime down. It’s going to be replaced by something more friendly to the United States,” Graham insists, making it seem as if Iran would accept a regime change so easily, like Venezuela did. Even in the last coup led by the United States in Iran, the government did not become friendlier to the West—rather, the nation became vigilant to Western actors.

Bombing for peace’s sake

Fox News anchor Maria Bartiromo asked Graham how he will better secure the Strait of Hormuz. She clarifies, “Are you telling us you want the United Arab Emirates and the Saudis to lash out and strike Iran right now?”

He agreed, encouraging U.S. allies in the Middle East to join the fight. Graham says that everyone should wait and see what the next two weeks will bring.

“The next two weeks, meaning what?” Bartiromo followed up.

“We’re going to blow the hell out of these people,” Graham said.

“This regime is on death row now. It is going to be on its knees. It’s going to fall, and when it falls, we’re going to have peace like no other time,” he says, adding that peace cannot be earned with words.

Who are the people he’s referring to? Members of the Iranian regime, or will the civilians on the ground be a mere casualty to him? And will Iranians also experience the peace Graham says will come after the blitz?

Graham’s chilling words are no different from those of Department of War Secretary Pete Hegseth, who implied indiscriminate attacks during military operations in Iran.

Graham leaves an ominous warning for Cuba

It’s unclear what Trump’s plans for Cuba are. However, Trump mentioned that Cuba is “gonna fall pretty soon.” Since Maduro’s arrest, Cuba has not been able to find a substitute for Venezuelan oil.

Trump revealed that he’s sending Marco Rubio over to Cuba for a deal.

“We’re marching through the world,w e’re cleaning up the bad guys. We’re going to have relationships with new people that will make us prosperous,” Graham claims. It’s too soon to speculate about yet another plan for a regime change. But given Trump’s track record, it would not be off the table.
