Woman gets pink Coach tabby bag. $400 later, she’ ‘instantly’ regrets it. Now she’s comparing it to a knock-off: ‘Nobody told me’

The pink Coach tabby bag is widely considered a luxury—but not everybody is happy with the results. In a video clip that has now amassed 31,700 views, the TikToker, who posted under the handle @thee_secretbakup, questioned whether the bag was really worth the money.
Sitting in the car, the TikToker showed the much-coveted bag to the camera and explained: “This bag was over $400, and I’m in full regret. I got the pink tabby from Coach, I was extremely excited because I know this was a hot commodity. Everybody wanted it. It’s beautiful, don’t get me wrong, but nobody told me how fragile the fabric is.”
She went on to explain how this is “not an everyday bag,” and she “rarely” uses it, noting how the pink on the buckle has already started to rub off.
“And that’s the part that gets me because at this price point, I would expect that from a knockoff, not from an authentic bag,” she added. “And going online, seeing that this has happened to a lot of other people with these types of bags … It’s really disappointing because I feel like, if I’m paying 400 plus for a bag, the quality should match.”
In the video description, she added: “I really wanted to love this Coach quilted tabby 20. Beautiful bag, I am a Coach girlie through and through, but I will not be purchasing a Coach purse of this fabric again.”
The TikToker didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via TikTok comment and direct message.

What did commenters say?
In the comments, users had mixed responses. Some agreed with the TikToker, with one saying that “their quality is going down.”
“Girl, I would take that purse straight back to Coach and ask them what they can do about it,” a second added. While a third noted, “I sold my quilted tabby for this reason. The fabric on the bag is entirely too fragile for my liking. I wore it twice and it was messing up.”
However, other commenters were less supportive.
“It’s leather so……..quality is there,” a fourth wrote. “I have this bag and mine is fine.”
While a fifth asked, “Y’all are paying $400 for a fad, not for quality?”
What are Coach tabby bags made of?
Also in the comments, many users noted that Coach tabby bags are made of something called nappa leather.
According to The Real Leather Co, nappa leather is a kind of leather known for its high quality, softness, durability and luxurious feel.
The website also cites several pros of nappa leather, including its softness, suppleness, flexibility, and durability. However, there are also numerous cons to be aware of, including its susceptibility to scuffs and scratches, its higher cost, and its need for regular maintenance.
So, when it comes to Coach tabby bags, it seems like damage to the leather is a real risk. As previously reported by The Mary Sue, several Redditors have also noted that the bags are easily damaged.
Tapestry Inc, the company behind Coach, didn’t immediately respond to The Mary Sue’s request for comment via contact form.
