NY woman stored her new adult toy in a ‘blue silken bag’ but was horrified when she realised why the bag felt important

Now that’s an original experience, probably.

NY woman stores her adult toys in a blue silken bag, then realizes where it came from.

We often hold onto beautiful packaging thinking it might come in handy later. And this New York woman did exactly that with a beautiful blue silken bag. Only, she couldn’t remember where the bag originally came from. Her eventual realization of what she was reusing has left 5 million viewers in a state of collective shock.

TikTok creator Madeline (@say_qis) shared a series of events that she captioned as “The circle of life if you really think about it.” It began with a sisterly favor and ended with a storage epiphany that is as sentimental as it is deeply awkward. You could say that she faced the unintended consequences of being a “reduce, reuse, recycle” queen.

The story began with a unique purchase using a family discount

Madeline’s story started with her younger sister, who works at an adult store and has access to significant employee discounts. So, during a “double discount day,” the sisters browsed the inventory over FaceTime, where Madeline really liked a “purple object for insertion.”

The sister immediately bought it and packed it with a few other items to bring to Madeline soon. However, they had to face a brief complication involving a cat named Ming Ming peeing in the shipping box. But thankfully, the object was still sealed in its original packaging and safely made its way to Madeline in New York.

The blue silken bag seemed like perfect storage

While the object itself wasn’t exactly Madeline’s favorite, she kept it organized along with her other adult toys. Then, during a recent cleaning session in her bathroom sink, she found herself admiring the “little blue silken drawstring bag.” She had apparently been using it to store all her adult toys.

In the middle of the cleaning session, Madeline suddenly thought to herself, “This is a really nice bag. Where did I get this? She noted that it was “the perfect size, the perfect shape.” Soon, she had a nagging feeling that the bag had originated from something quite important.

She finally remembered the bag’s heartbreaking origin

As she stood there drying her products, the significance of the blue silk finally hit her. It wasn’t a gift from a boutique or a leftover from a jewelry purchase. It was the exact bag the veterinarian had used to return the ashes of her late, beloved dog, Chilo.

The bag originally held the cedar box containing Chilo’s remains. She told viewers that the box still sits on her bedside table and she even talks to it every morning while doing her makeup. Madeline described the realization as a “surreal moment” in any woman’s life.

It’s just a surreal moment in any woman’s life, you know? When you realize that the purple foreskin dildo that your little sister bought you with her sex shop employee discount on double discount day is being stored in the bag that your late dog’s ashes were delivered to you in. Mm. Coming of age of sorts? I don’t know.

Viewers recognized the bag from their own grief

The moment Madeline mentioned a “blue silken bag,” the comments section exploded with people who knew exactly where the story was headed. For many pet owners who have gone through the painful process of cremation, that specific shade of blue silk is an instantly recognizable symbol of a “return from the vet.”

It is a standard piece of packaging used by many pet crematories to provide a dignified final hand-off of remains. This made Madeline’s realization a shared, albeit darkly hilarious, cultural touchstone for the bereaved.

PSA: Separate your silicone products to avoid chemical melting

While the storage choice was emotionally complicated, there is also a technical reason to be careful with how you pack these items. You cannot store silicone products of different batches in physical contact with each other.

Due to varying chemical compositions, different types of silicone can actually cause one another to “melt” or degrade if they touch for extended periods. To keep your collection safe, you should store each item in its own separate bag or even a clean cotton sock to prevent a chemical reaction.

Grief and comedy often share the same bag

At the end of the day, Madeline’s experience is a reminder that the items we keep for their “significance” sometimes find very practical, if unintended, new lives. While Chilo might be watching over her from the bedside table, her storage bag is certainly doing the heavy lifting in a way no one could have predicted.

Despite that, we hope Chilo’s bag has been retired in favor of a separate cotton sock. As a lesson, check your drawstring bags before you pack. You might just be carrying a piece of your Roman Empire in your vanity drawer.
