Bride’s bachelorette party is a surprise. Then her friends reveal where they’re taking her right before boarding: ‘They didn’t plan that for you’

Trusting your friends to plan a surprise bachelorette party is a leap of faith. Trusting them to pick a destination that actually matches your personality? Apparently, for some that’s where things get risky.
One bride-to-be decided to surrender control and let her bridal party choose the entire trip. Standing at the airport gate, she waited excitedly for the big reveal. Then came the announcement: Las Vegas.
The problem?
She doesn’t drink, smoke, gamble, or go clubbing—the four activities most people can name within three seconds of hearing “Vegas.”
Her less-than-thrilled reaction has since sparked a debate over whether she’s being ungrateful or the bridesmaids sucked at knowing their best friend. Howevever, there’s one plot twist she didn’t expect.
Where Is This Bachelorette Trip Headed?
These bridesmaids sure know how to keep people on their toes. Giselle (@gymselle_) went viral for her surprise bachelorette trip. In just two days, the clip has garnered 9.3 million viewers and over 5,500 comments. That’s a lot of opinions, with many sharing their two cents on how Giselle reacted to the surprise.
Her text overlay reads: “You trust your bridal party to plan your surprise bachelorette trip and the saxophones start getting louder.”
The video is taken at 4 a.m. at the airport gate, with the bridal party waiting for their flight. Giselle has the camera pointing at them and one of them says, “Are you ready?”
When Giselle says yes, a woman sitting on the floor says “Vegas.”
The first bridesmaid confirms it while smiling. Giselle then turns the camera on herself and makes a disappointed face.
“Why are we going to Vegas? What are we gonna do in Vegas?” she asks bluntly. The bridesmaid simply tells her to “trust” them and that it was going to be fun.
The video ends with Giselle looking not-so-happy. Her caption reads, “And I don’t drink, smoke, gamble, or club.”
Is Las Vegas For Bachelorette Overrated?
In 2018, Stag and Hen surveyed 1,000 people to find out the most popular bachelorette destination. Lo and behold, Las Vegas was at the top of the list, respectively followed by Nashville, Miami, and Mexico.
An easy destination considering it’s effortless to party, drink, and gamble freely. But it’s not only a party destination. Even if a bride-to-be like Giselle visits, there are plenty of entertainment and services that don’t include gambling or drinking.
One could customize a bachelorette to do spa services, comedy shows, etc. Sin City Parties reports on whether the destination is overrated. The article provides ideas for non-traditional bachelorettes, adventure-focused groups, or those who just want to relax. Their conclusion was that it depends on the bridal party’s expectations, but list some cons as “Potentially high costs, crowded environments, overwhelming options, possible cliché factor.”

The Plot Twist No One Expected
Funnily enough, there’s a twist not even Giselle could have predicted. Just a day after the original clip was posted, an update pops up.
Giselle gives a little more info at the beginning, saying she had told her bridal party to plan a trip without telling her any details. She fully admits that she’s usually a type-A planner but she knew she could trust her bridal party with this task.
She then reveals that it was all a prank. Apparently, they did fly to Las Vegas but only to transfer to Reno, California, which was the actual bachelorette destination. Giselle explains that she had no idea until they had arrived in Reno and started driving to what she calls her “dream bachelorette destination.”
Viewers are Blunt
Before the prank was revealed, quite a few viewers did not sugarcoat their words to Giselle. The top comment with over 420,000 likes says, “They didn’t plan that for you.”
Another one has 97,000 likes and ir more pessimistic, saying, “You don’t drink, club, smoke or gamble?? Baby you wasn’t gone have fun anywhere. enjoy your trip!” Giselle replies, “I literally travel the world and have the time of my life…”
A third viewer achieved 74,000 likes by claiming, “If you were going to be picky you should have planned it.” Another simply tells her, “You’re ungrateful.”
Naturally, some do come to Giselle’s defense. “From someone who is born & raised in Vegas … if you don’t do none of those things in your caption, your response was 100% valid !!!” shares one viewer.
Lastly, one viewer says, “The haters are so lame. My sister doesn’t do any of those things, so I planned a trip that was centered around HER and HER interests because it was HER Bach trip. And we had a blast.”
