Crispin Glover Has Been Accused of Pretty Horrific Things

Back to the Future and American Gods actor Crispin Glover is the subject of a harrowing new lawsuit. Variety has obtained a civil complaint that was filed earlier this week, which alleges that Glover kept his ex-girlfriend “held captive and used for sex and free labor” under false pretenses.

The woman is a 30-year-old former model from the U.K. known only in the suit as “Jane Doe”, who apparently “lives with autism spectrum disorder and related mood disorders.” She accuses Glover of “battery, fraud, wrongful eviction, malicious prosecution, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and bane act violations.” This includes him allegedly violating the Tom Bane Civil Rights Act, which authorizes legal action against anyone who attempts to interfere with the exercise of an individual’s constitutional or statutory rights.

According to the filing, Glover and Doe first met on social media in 2015, and the actor proceeded to spend years making “strange advances” to get her to visit him in Los Angeles. They ultimately met in person in Dresden, Germany in 2023, and the meeting apparently involved Glover showing off pieces of Nazi memorabilia from his personal connection.

Allegedly, Glover repeatedly “groomed Jane Doe with promises of a new life where she could start over and have a career in the entertainment industry through some sort of business relationship with him.”

What Is Crispin Glover Accused Of?

The woman moved to L.A. in the beginning of 2024, under the pretenses of becoming his assistant and living in one of his homes. Instead, once she arrived in L.A., Doe alleges that Glover “wanted to control her actions and track her whereabouts and basically serve him as a live in girlfriend/sex slave.”

Doe alleges that, when she attempted to not comply with Glover’s “increasingly bizarre and inappropriate demands,” Glover made moves that led to her being unlawfully evicted. More specifically, in March of 2024, he locked her out of his house and left her “homeless” after she left on her own volition to attend services at a local mosque.

Doe then attempted to get her cats from Glover’s home, which led to him allegedly grabbing her by the neck and putting her in a headlock. This allegedly left a “visible wound and scar on her neck”, an alleged photo of which has been obtained by The Daily Mail. He then called the police on her and filed a “fraudulent” restraining order against her. When the restraining order was “swiftly dismissed for failure to prosecute,” Glover continued to harass the woman and “manipulate her into a sexual relationship with him.”

What is going to happen with the complaint?

In the complaint, the victim demands this case go before a jury trial, and seeks remuneration for general, special, punitive, and exemplary damages, as well as attorneys’ fees. While Glover himself has not spoken out about the allegations, his lawyer has released a statement vehemently denying them and painting Glover as the victim.

“Mr. Glover denies these baseless allegations in the strongest possible terms,” Glover’s lawyer said in a statement. “The reality is that on March 2, 2024, Mr. Glover was the victim of an unprovoked felony assault by Jane Doe at his Los Angeles residence. Mr. Glover called LAPD, which came to the scene, investigated, and arrested Jane Doe. These facts are documented by law enforcement records and by the restraining order filed by Mr. Glover against Jane Doe at that time. Mr. Glover intends to vigorously defend himself and pursue all available relief. He is confident the judicial process will expose this lawsuit as a meritless fabrication.”

Glover is best known for portraying George McFly in the Back to the Future movies, with his credits also including Charlie’s Angels, Alice in Wonderland, and River’s Edge. This is not the first time that Glover has been involved with a legal case, as he himself sued the team behind Back to the Future Part II for using his likeness and footage from the first film without his permission.
