Robert Pattinson and Zendaya’s A24 Dream Wedding Seems to Have a Gnarly Twist

You don’t always know the people that you think you do, and the new trailer for thew A24 film The Drama, directed by Kristoffer Borgli, shows that to us in full force. Really, it’s every engaged couple’s nightmare. So maybe save the date–or don’t.

The film stars Zendaya and Robert Pattinson as Emma and Charlie, a happily engaged couple who are forced to confront the fact that they may not know each other as well as they think they do. Honestly, a worse case scenario for a hopeful couple before their wedding day.

In what can only be described as an icebreaker gone wrong, Emma and Charlie are asked what the worst thing they’ve ever done was. When it gets to Emma, it is clear that, whatever it is, it’s not exactly something you’d want to find out just before a wedding.

After that, Charlie seems to spiral, unable to think about little else, and the glimpses we get of Emma show that maybe she has been hiding a part of herself this whole time. What is her motivation? And what did she do?

Little is known about the twist, and even the official synopsis keeps it vague: “The Drama centers on Emma Harwood (Zendaya), who works at a publishing house, and British museum director Charlie Thompson (Pattinson). The happily engaged couple’s relationship is pushed to the brink after an unexpected revelation amid their wedding week.”

But the trailer should be enough to have fans of both Pattinson and Zendaya excited about the project. Look, whenever Zendaya gets to be a little deranged is exciting. Maybe a double feature of Challengers and The Drama is going to be required viewing?

The Drama hits theaters on April 3. The film also stars Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, Zoe Winters, and Hailey Gates.
