New York City woman orders Arby’s Meat Mountain. Now she’s issuing a warning: ‘Never under any circumstances’

Stopping by fast-food chains for a quick bite is an innocuous activity in people’s lives. While it aims to satisfy hunger, sometimes it has the opposite effect. The culprit for this woman was the Arby’s Meat Mountain, which triggered a physical reaction. Now, she’s urging viewers to avoid this meal at all costs.
What Did An Arby’s Meal Allegedly Do To This Customer?
The nine-second clip features New York City TikToker Paige (@cecropiamoth888) sitting on her couch, her skin pale and one of her eyes swollen.
“Whatever you do, never under any circumstances order the Arby’s Meat Mountain,” she says.
‘What Happened To You?’
Paige’s PSA amassed 1.1 million views, where it raised more questions than answers about what the Arby’s sandwich did.
“Did they jump you for ordering it?” one viewer asked.
“I’m screaming… girl what happened to you?” another questioned.
“Girl u got the suds???” a third inquired.
To clear the confusion, Paige answered in the comments section that this was an “allergic reaction.”
Although others fully intended to never eat there, her caveat sealed the deal.
“I mean I wasn’t gonna do that anyway but thanks,” one commenter remarked.
“I never planned too, but now I know not too!” a second echoed.
How Could An Arby’s Sandwich Cause An Allergic Reaction?
Arby’s famous slogan boasts they “have the meats,” and this sandwich certainly lives up to it. The Meat Mountain contains Swiss and cheddar cheese along with a whopping eight different meats stacked between two buns: Angus steak, bacon, brisket, chicken tenders, corned beef, ham, roast beef, and turkey. With all of these ingredients jam-packed into one colossal sandwich, it can be a breeding ground for soy, eggs, milk, and wheat sensitivities, but also for anyone with alpha-gal syndrome.
According to the Mayo Clinic, this food allergy causes reactions to red meat, dairy products and gelatin after a tick bite. Because people don’t have this sugar molecule, this exposure can be potentially dangerous. When the parasite sinks its teeth into a person, its saliva releases alpha-gal into the body, triggering the immune system to attack it; thus, the allergic reaction.
However, those who have the allergy may not realize it since reactions appear between two to six hours after consumption. So, Cleveland Clinic lists the symptoms to monitor for:
- Hives, itching, or flushing
- Swelling of the face, eyelids, throat, lips, or tongue
- Coughing and difficulty breathing
- Stomach pain like nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and heartburn
- Dizziness or fainting
- Joint pain
- Anaphylaxis
