Ordering with delivery apps isn’t always as easy as it seems.

For example, you might place a simple order for tampons—only to have to explain the difference between tampons and diapers to your delivery driver. You may also place an order for food, then discover that your driver has left the state with your purchase.

While minor mistakes are understandable, some leave customers scratching their heads. Now, a DoorDash customer who placed an order from Starbucks is sparking discussion after asking how her order got messed up—but is there really a problem with it?

What’s Wrong With This Woman’s Starbucks Order?

In a video with over 98,000 views, TikToker Katalina (@katalinalynn_) shows a DoorDash delivery from Starbucks.

“Should my Starbucks order look like this?” she asks in the video’s overlay text. “First time DoorDashing Starbucks.”

As the video progresses, she pulls out two drinks. One is in a Venti cup and seems underfilled. The other is in a Tall cup.

“This does not look like what I ordered,” Katalina says.

She then presents the two drinks to the camera. One is a Dubai Mocha, and the other is a Dubai Matcha. The TikToker then takes a sip of the Dubai Matcha.

“I don’t like it,” she says.

Some Possible Answers

In the comments section, several users speculated as to why Katalina’s Starbucks order was not up to her standard.

First, some users noted that Katalina ordered a Tall drink in a Venti cup. As detailed on Starbucks’ website, a Tall iced drink has 12 fluid ounces of liquid. A Venti has 24 fluid ounces.

Some people choose to order Tall drinks in Venti cups. This allows them to add more of their own selections like milk or creamer into the cup. Others add additional ice. Regardless, it should not be surprising that 12 fluid ounces of liquid do not fill up a cup designed for 24 fluid ounces of liquid.

Baristas Share Their Thoughts

Second, a few baristas in the comments stated that Katalina purchased cold foam. While she may be used to the in-store experience of fresh cold foam, these commenters said that, during the delivery process, it may have dissolved into the drink in a manner with which Katalina was unfamiliar. This could also explain a perceived change in color.

“You also got non dairy cold foam which is a very different consistency compared to the regular foam so it’ll naturally dissapate into the drink so that’s why it looks like that,” stated a user.

“Also, door dashing any ‘layered’ drink is gonna make it mix at least a little,” offered another. “Some drivers Do Not Care when we tell them it’s only drinks and to be careful. they’re swinging the bag out the door.”

Regardless, Katalina appears unconvinced that these could be the problems causing her issues.

“Seen lots of videos of Starbucks being door dashed and they don’t look like this,” she wrote in a comment. In another, she responded to a user talking about how a drink sitting for a long time could affect its appearance by saying, “Starbucks is right behind my house. When I pick up Starbucks and get home it never looks like that.”

Commenters Aren’t Convinced

In the comments section, users largely stated that Katalina was incorrect in her assessment that something went wrong with her order.

“Hey, so barista here we do this too unless you pay for the less ice or whatever you’re getting because it requires us to use more product! And it is I fear quite literally exactly what you ordered!” wrote a commenter.

“Well when u get it delivered the cold foam is gonna start to mix in to thr drink so that’s why it’s that color, and it looks like u got a smaller size in a venti cup thats why its not full,” stated a second.

That said, she did have supporters in her comments section as well.

“Looks like your dasher didn’t pick up for awhile – blame them,” said a user.

“It’s definitely what you ordered but the door dashers take sooooooo long to pick up orders so they just get really gross tbh,” offered another.
