“Easily One of the Most Overrated Movies”: The Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh Is Big Mad Over ‘Sinners’ Making History

Unfortunately, it is a day that ends in Y in the United States. So yes, there are bad takes going around because Sinners just made Oscar history with the most nominations ever for a single film. It certainly couldn’t be because Sinners was a genuinely good film that deserved its noms. No, it has to be more nefarious reasons.
The King of Bad Takes, Matt Walsh (the bad one), felt like he had to say something about this perceived injustice. Because being a victim is a job, all right, and he needs the money from X.
First, put some respect on Black Panther. I think if a superhero movie is good enough (which it was, by the way) then it should be nominated accordingly. This is not a Wicked situation. Ryan Coogler knows what he’s doing.
Second, of course there is a lot of praise surrounding the nominations for this film. The Oscars have historically not been kind to Black people (or women), and Sinners has the potential to right some of those wrongs. The praise also isn’t just for the Black cast and crew; there has been plenty of it for Jack O’Connell and Hailee Steinfeld.
If you’re feeling brave and want to go into the comments of Bad Walsh’s post, you see that vpeople are comparing Sinners to Robert Rodriguez’s From Dusk Till Dawn. Why? Who knows. They needed a white vampire movie to compare it to and that happened to be the closest one plot-wise, I suppose.
Please, find a hobby
One user stated “You can’t possibly need attention this bad.” Normally, I would agree, but I genuinely think Bad Walsh shrivels up and dies without it.
Another (white) user predictably pulled the reverse racism UNO card, calling Coogler and the film “racist.” Heavy, heavy sigh. Say it with me: Reverse racism does not exist.
Coogler using vampirism as a metaphor is not racist. It is simply a fact. If you want to cry oppression over this, may I suggest reading some literature. Blues music has been appropriated.
This is such a tired argument. Do people not get tired of rehashing the same thing over and over?
