Trump’s Greenland fantasy crushed as a Greenland politician declares the territory can’t be bought by his white-powered cronies

Donald Trump may be trying his best to “own” Greenland and convince other nations not to hinder his efforts in this aspect. However, people residing in the territory, including those in positions of power, are not too keen on giving up their autonomy.
A recent video of Politician Tillie Martinussen on platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), refusing to give up Greenland, has been gaining significant attention online. In the viral clip, Martinussen can be seen criticising America’s ambitions of acquiring Greenland, saying that the country is “rich” yet “greedy.” Elucidating on her “greedy” comment, she states that this attribute has led America to “shoot” and “invade” its friends. Her exact words in this context were:
“We do not want to be rich like the Americans are. See how greedy they are. They are even trynna shoot their friends or invade their friends just for greed.”
In the clip, Tillie Martinussen also speaks about Greenland’s rich potential resources, including minerals and oil, which could earn it humongous amounts of money. However, she states that even if the territory did not have access to these, they still wouldn’t be “bought.”
Martinussen also briefly spoke about the indigenous people of Greenland, highlighting that they had not been treated well by the people of the United States in the past. She expresses concern that if America were to take control of Greenland, the natives would likely face mistreatment, similar to what has occurred in the past. Martinussen’s justification for that potentially happening was Trump’s nature of surrounding himself with “white powered people” who do not and would not necessarily treat people of colour, such as Greenlanders, with respect. This is exactly what she said in this respect:
“Everyone here knows about the Inuit in Alaska, and all of the native tribes, Indians, American-Indians who are there. Their land was taken from them, and they haven’t been treated that well in America. And we know that Trump is very much surrounding himself with, at least, white powered people, and we are not white, as you can say. We are of colour, and so we know our rights would probably be taken away.”
Martinussen’s comments about the US and Trump have garnered a wide range of responses from the public on social media. Most people have lauded her for keeping her “integrity” intact in the face of adversity; others have highlighted additional consequences of the US attaining Greenland.
