I’d Go Backstage with Lestat de Lioncourt Any Day

Things are heating up in the world of vamps. The rebranded Interview with the Vampire series, now named The Vampire Lestat, is dropping this year and fans are finally getting Lestat de Lioncourt’s (Sam Reid) side of the story.
A new teaser dropped that shows Lestat and a member of his entourage named Dee Pharma (Amaka Umeh) backstage at one of the shows. “Who do you think?” Lestat asks her as the two are looking around the room and TV Insider spoke with creator Rolin Jones about the character.
“That’s Dee Pharma. One of Lestat’s entourage,” Jones told the publication. “Depending on who you ask, she’s either his social media coordinator or his pharmaceutically enhanced blood source.” But as is the case with everyone of these teasers, it really is a sample of just how chaotic Lestat can be.
The show details Lestat’s journey into the rockstar world. Based on Anne Rice’s novel of the same name, it is going to be a lot. In the teaser, Lestat doesn’t shy away from his vampire ways. “I’m going into my vampire dressing room now. A little draining both ways. You’ll have to guess who gets the fangs and who gets the vodka bottle. And yes, it’s a vodka bottle.”
But this comes with a caveat: A collaboration with Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). And Jones told TV Insider why Lestat was working with Daniel even if he doesn’t love his book. “Lestat didn’t like his perfunctory portrayal in Molloy’s book. Who better to refute that portrayal than the author himself? Think of the documentary as Lestat orchestrating a ‘rewrite.’”
And Louis de Point du Lac’s (Jacob Anderson) thoughts on this pairing? “At this point of the story, Louis would probably say he’s amused and good luck with that.”
Rockstar Lestat is my 2026 vibe

The minute Lestat reappeared in Louis’ life at the end of season 2 of Interview With the Vampire, the first time we saw him as he truly is and not as Louis’ story painted him to be, I was hooked. An entire season dedicated to Lestat’s journey with music? Beautiful. Him being a rockstar and it allowing Sam Reid to sing on the show more? I’m sold.
But what I love about the upcoming series, The Vampire Lestat, is how they’re marketing Lestat’s musical endeavors. Have I listened to “Long Face” repeatedly since it came out? Yes. And I have been waiting for the entire track list from the show to drop. That is the level of obsession I have with this series and it isn’t even out yet.
So I really do love the snippets that we’re getting from the show and if it is just a lot of Lestat in his dressing room, being a mess and singing? Then I am so incredibly sat.
