So Where’s That Secret Episode of Stranger Things?

Stranger Things 5 Has ignited the fan base in the strangest way possible. A lot of viewers still expect a secret final episode to premiere. But, none has materialized.
In fact, the closest people are going to get is a behind the scenes documentary special. Netflix announced One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 for release on January 12. This isn’t that fabled final episode that all these social media #ConformityGate clues have been gesturing towards. Rather this is Matt and Ross Duffer talking about their experience bringing this long running narrative to a close. But nothing is stopping these fans from speculating.
Martina Radwan directs One Last Adventure: The Making of Stranger Things 5 and she was given a ton of behind-the-scenes access by The Duffer Bros. Even the announcement of this heartfelt special came under fire in certain corners of social media. Folks want there to be some secret last part of Stranger Things 5. As is the case with a lot of fandoms now, “what was the entire journey for if it didn’t make me personally feel amazing?” Despite the chatter online, and the ease of conspiracy spreading in these spaces, there are fans who are completely satisfied with the ending Netflix came up with.
It’s just that you’d be hard pressed to find those satisfied fans amongst all the noise. You’ve got accounts going through that finale with a fine-toothed comb to seek out any inconsistencies. Because of the way that attention works on these sites, there’s going to be loud rubber necking everywhere you turn.
Stranger Things 5 isn’t getting that secret episode

The end of Stranger Things 5 is still kicking off arguments all over social media right now. People are more obsessed with digging up supposed Easter eggs and engaging with the ending that was presented. Part of that was unavoidable because of how our media landscape has evolved since the world was introduced to the kids and Hawkins Indiana. But, it is still jarring to see so many videos and posts focusing on that. Matt Duffer talked about the importance of Dustin’s graduation speech with Tudum last week. maybe we should all be focusing on that instead of what we didn’t get?
“The point of Dustin’s speech is that because of everything that happened, it thrust people together who never would have interacted in the first place and enriched their lives because of that,” Duffer said. “I think many people in this world are unfairly judged just because of the way they look or the way they’re perceived. We like the idea that so many of the characters transcend what you might initially think of them.”
I feel like that’s an ethos that we can all get behind. Or, we could just continue chasing our shadows. If recent other travails and fandom are any indicator, get those legs warmed up. The running in circles isn’t over. So, in true Stranger Things fashion, around we go. The story really never ends.
