Seth Meyers just gave us his best Day Drinking episode yet

Few late-night television segments have charmed me as much as “Day Drinking” on Late Night with Seth Meyers. The concept is so shockingly simple, it circles back around to being genius, especially when Meyers and the celebrity’s energy pair perfectly with each other.

That was proven in spades on Tuesday night, when Late Night released the full video of Meyers and pop star Sabrina Carpenter taking on the challenge. And honestly, outside of the iconic 2019 episode with Rihanna, it just might be the best installment yet.

In the span of just sixteen minutes of footage, Meyers and Carpenter get up to shenanigans that need to be seen to be believed. They do impressions of animal sounds! They race to unwrap presents while wearing oven mitts! They learn just how weird red light therapy masks are!

Along the way, multiple inside jokes form: about Meyers’ age (he is delighted when Carpenter incorrectly guesses how old he is) and where he rates on a hotness scale, about whether it’s appropriate to say “bitch,” about how a Proboscis monkey probably sounds like an annoying guy trying to get a selfie, and about just how gross Eggo’s “Brunch in a Jar” liqueur is.

Even when the topics drift into potentially darker territory, like what role Carpenter played as a child on Law & Order: SVU, it only adds to the fun. Case in point: during one segment when Carpenter has to read coffee orders off of cue cards, she gets Meyers to read a particularly-topical one for her, because “that clip could’ve been thrown around for me.”

By the end of the video, when Carpenter is decorating Meyers like a literal Christmas tree, the energy is just genuinely infectious. It might be an eleventh-hour contender for one of my favorite videos of the year.
