Where Was ‘Schitt’s Creek’ Filmed?

Like many people, I was (more or less) forcefully relocated at the start of the pandemic due to financial reasons, which made watching Schitt’s Creek an incredibly cathartic experience. Obviously, most people didn’t go through exactly what the Roses went through, but the experience of being uprooted, moving to a new place, and starting a new life (gracefully or otherwise) is fairly universal for many.

Plus, the town of Schitt’s Creek is an odd little fantasy town, and I know for certain that I wasn’t the only person who wondered, Where exactly IS this place? I’m sad to say, there is no real Schitt’s Creek, i.e. there probably isn’t a sleepy little small town in America that’s progressive, diverse, and affordable. And please prove me wrong in the comments if you happen to live in such a place.

No, Schitt’s Creek is an ideal, filmed in a place that many Americans tend to idealize, for better or for worse: Canada. Specifically, it was filmed in seven locations in the Ontario region, specifically in the town of Goodwood. Rose Apothecary, for instance, was filmed in an actual store: Romni Goodwood, a wool and craft store. Other locations were filmed in national parks and various buildings and set-pieces in Toronto proper.

Why Canada? Why not, eh?
