Things We Saw Today: Damn, Harlem! Luke Cage Is Just One Dude! Even if He Does Have Super Powers

Recommended Videos

Marvel’s Luke Cage returns to Netflix for its second season on June 22nd, and we’ve all been feeling a little impatient as we wait to see where his story is going next. But you know who’s even more impatient? The people of Harlem, who don’t think that Luke is doing enough, or effective enough, or using his powers right. Even the little girl in this trailer is skeptical.

Yet, despite being visibly frustrated, Luke remains calm and unflappable. Most importantly, he listens and remains understanding. He knows where these people are coming from, and knows that despite directing their frustrations at him, the real cause is the injustice and crime they all live with on a day to day basis.

This trailer reminds us that part of what makes Luke Cage a hero, in addition to his super-strength and invincibility, is his ability to listen, to be empathetic, to be kind. I can’t wait for another season of him on screen so that he can model those true superpowers for men everywhere. (via Netflix on YouTube)

Whew! That was an interesting hodge-podge of things. What have you seen out there today?
