Where were you just over three years ago when Korra and Asami went into the Spirit World together, hand-in-hand, for their completely canon couple’s vacation? Seeing these two great characters end up together was a defining moment for me and many others who just weren’t expecting the children’s show, well, go there.
Anyway, I shrieked a bit when I saw this figurine from Mondo of the two on their honeymoon in the Spirit World by artists Joe Jung, Trevor Grove, Mara Ancheta, Bryan Konietzko, Simon Garcia, and Eric Siebenaler. The tender hand hold! The happy looks in their eyes! And yes, the item description acknowledges their relationship as well:
“The Legend of Korra series ended in both surprise and beauty- two friends, realizing they have stronger feelings for each other, decide to take a vacation into the Spirit World, and enter the realm joined hand-in-hand.”
Another section reads, “In the Korra & Asami in the Spirit World, we imagine the couple several days into their trip, taking in the wonders of the land, while a friendly leaf spirit joins them in looking on with awe.” I would love an entire spin-off that’s just Korrasami in the Spirit World going on great supernatural dates and hanging out with adorable spirits, but this figurine will do for now. (PS: Legend of Korra: Turf Wars is a comic that picks up after their trip if you need more Korra in your life.)
There are two versions of the figurine, and the Mondo exclusive (priced at $215 instead of $210) allows you to interchange the large plant with Korra and Asami’s backpacks, “featuring a mischievous onion spirit looking to play a game of Pai Sho it’s found in one of the bags.” The site is currently taking pre-orders and will ship the items by 2019.
Now the price is definitely a bit steep, but can you really put a price on a family heirloom that will be loved and appreciated by your children and their children after them? Just look at how cute those spirits are!
