Screengrab of Netflix trailer for the "Arkangel" episode of Black Mirror Season Four

In the New Black Mirror Trailer, Everything’s Gonna Be Totally Fine With This Experimental Implant for Children

Netflix just dropped a new trailer for “Arkangel,” one of the six upcoming episodes from Season Four of Black Mirror. The episode seems to focus around an experimental implant for children. While the doctors assure everyone that “it’s completely safe” and provides excellent “sense of security, peace of mind,” we all know from the cinematography and the show’s history that things are about to get terrible.

‘The key to good parenting,” the trailer ominously reads, “is control.”

An extended clip from “Arkangel” first premiered back at New York Comic Con (NYCC), and TMS contributor Zachary Garrett was there to see it. He described the episode’s premise as “what if helicopter parenting, but too much?” In the episode, the mother (played by Rosemarie DeWitt) “uses a tablet synced to an implant in her daughter’s head which DeWitt can use to manipulate her daughter’s vision. The idea seems to follow a familiar Black Mirror formula, echoing concepts from previous episodes including ‘Men Against Fire,’ an episode which the ‘Arkangel’ clip explicitly referenced.”

Of course, this trailer still doesn’t come with a premiere date, so Netflix continues to keep us in the dark on that one, but this looks like classic Black Mirror fare.
