We’ve been looking forward to season 2 of Issa Rae’s HBO show Insecurewhich promises more of Rae’s humor, charismatic performance, and thoughtful exploration of trying to navigate the messiness of love and friendship. In preparation, HBO will be making the entire first season free for viewing leading up to the premiere of season 2.

It’s a great opportunity for fans to rewatch all the drama of season 1 (so many bad decisions!), and for those without access to HBO to finally see what all the buzz is about. In case you need more convincing to watch this show, Rae has a PSA with five reasons you should definitely tune in. To be fully honest though, if you’re not already sold by the first two reasons I don’t know what to tell you because they are both Beyoncé-related:

“The first episode was directed by Melina Matsoukas, who you may know from three little words “Formation music video”. That’s right, she’s a go-to collaborator of Beyoncé’s.

Speaking of Queen Bey, her sister Solange Knowles was our music consultant.”

If you still need more persuading, Rae adds a little nerdy/south LA flair, noting, “a ton of the season is based on my own experiences growing up in south LA and once such inspired character is Thug Yoda. and yes, he’s as awesome as he sounds.” Other appearances might also be of interest, as Rae mentions “Season 1 saw some amazing A -list guest stars we had Ty Dolla Sign, Jidenna, and best of all, my mom pops up in episode 7.”

Finally, what’s better than a feud that forces you to pick sides and fights with your friends? “This season sparked a serious social media debate between #TeamLawrence or #TeamIssa so why don’t you pick a side and a hashtag? You’ll want to declare your stance.”

Insecure season 1 will stream for free Sunday July 23 beginning at 6AM ET on Watch.HBO.com and YouTube.com/HBO before the season 2 premiere.
