Dear White People Trailer Proves This Is a Show Everyone Needs to Watch

Recommended Videos

The title and subject matter might be a little divisive, but I genuinely think everyone should check out the Netflix series Dear White People. It’s a dramedy based on the 2014 film of the same name about four black students at an Ivy League university. The film focused on the escalating racial tensions, undoubtedly exacerbated by those attempting to downplay what’s really happening.  It’s bold, honest and exactly what we need right now.

Judging from the trailer, the show will follow suit in exploring these strained racial dynamics while offering up a how-to guide on not being offensive. As someone with non-black friends who’ve either made an offhand racist comment or didn’t see a problem with blackface Halloween costumes, I think this is a great way to get those people thinking deeper about what they’re saying/doing and how it affects others around them.

The show stars Brandon P. Bell, Logan Browning, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori and Ashley Blaine Featherson, and will debut on April 28. Will you watch?
