Arrow’s 100th Episode Will Bring Back the Dead—Get Those Tissues Ready

It's so hard to say goodbye.

There’s a reason Oliver Queen is so moody—he’s lost  quite a few friends and loved ones including his parents, ex-girlfriend turned partner in crime-fighting Laurel Lance and so many more. His grumpy old man demeanor is especially noticeable when juxtaposed next to Kara Danvers’ bubbly nature, which is why their dynamic is so much fun to watch. With that said, get ready to see a softer side of the Green Arrow when the 100th episode roles around.

If you’re not fond of spoilers, you might wanna make like a tree and get out of here.

The unique episode will feature Oliver in an alternate reality where he never went on The Queen’s Gambit and both of his parents are alive.  It’s a much happier time, as he’s also engaged to Laurel and their wedding is quite near. This means that Jamey Sheridan and Susanna Thompson will return as Robert and Moira Queen, as will Katie Cassidy as Laurel.

“It is such a radical departure from anything that we have ever done on the show,” Stephen Amell told TVLine. “We utilize the fantastical elements that we bring in on The Flash and carry through to Legends of Tomorrow with the present-day storyline to create something…that is not a flashback [or] a flash-forward. It’s something else entirely.”

Something different, eh? Like not fridging Laurel for once? Hey, a gal can dream. He went on to say the episode “basically gives us license to do whatever we want and to show some things that we’ll never be able to show, to have some characters interact that will never be able to interact on the show again—probably.” Well, there goes that Laurel pipe dream. Still, I’m down for any and all strange interactions. That’s why this mega supersonic four-way crossover event has got me more excited than Kara receiving an ice cream cone from Barry.

As for Oliver, don’t expect him to reach that level of excitement. However, he will get some closure. “There [is] a very therapeutic moment for my character towards the end where I get to say goodbye to people that I never got the chance to say goodbye to,” Amell added.

Arrow airs Wednesday nights on The CW.
