All About Arrow: Season 5 Premiere, “Legacy”

Recommended Videos

The fifth season of The CW’s Arrow premiered last night! As you’ll know if you watched it–and I hope you did, because this is the open thread for all of you who watched it, so it’s gonna be spoilerific–the fifth season kicked off with some serious crime lord shenanigans. The show has just introduced us all to Tobias Church (played by Chad L. Coleman), the new Big Bad who has designs on ruling over Star City. Or, at least, ruling over its seedy underbelly.

That means Tobias wants to take down Green Arrow, because that’d be the first thing any crime boss would want, right? Get rid of those pesky meddlin’ superheroes. Here’s the official show synopsis, via TV.com: “Crime lord Tobias Church moves into Star City, ready to unite all of the mobs under one rule. Meanwhile, Oliver tries to deal with his lives as both mayor and vigilante, but finds it tough because his team has left. In the past, Oliver is forced to join the Bratva to get at the man he has promised to kill.”

But of course, lots of other stuff happened too. We got to ruminate on the grim message of Laurel’s final words to Oliver: “Please don’t let me be the last Black Canary.” Does that mean Felicity is going to take up the mantle? Is that … something we want?
