Donald Trump Gets Reimagined as a Marvel Supervillain in Spider-Gwen Annual #1

Over the years, many public figures and celebrities have been reinterpreted as characters within the comics universe–everyone from actors like George Takei to legendary fighter Muhammad Ali (who took on Superman) to President Barack Obama (though his comic book appearances began when he was still a U.S. senator).

This time, it’s Donald Trump’s turn. The Donald makes his appearance in Spider-Gwen Annual #1, which takes place in an alternate universe wherein Gwen Stacy is the one to have been bitten by a radioactive spider and gain powers.

While the issue technically follows Samantha Wilson, the Captain America of the alternate universe, the story ends on a rather interesting reinterpretation of M.O.D.O.K., a fictional supervillain who was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Tales of Suspense #93 in 1967. In the Spider-Gwen version, however, M.O.D.O.K. (which is an acronym for “Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing”) has become M.O.D.A.A.K. (“Mental Organism Designed As America’s King”), and he definitely bears a significant resemblance to Trump:

Trump isn’t the only public figure who gets alluded to in the issue; this universe’s version of Baron Blood looks an awful lot like Prince:

Spider-Gwen has been earning rave reviews as a series–we’re big fans of it over here on TMS–so if you haven’t bought it yet, you should go ahead and check it out!
