[UPDATED] Extra Salt for This Rumor, Please: John Boyega May Have a Part in Black Panther

Streeeeetch it out, folks.

Right up front: grab a hefty grain of salt and a deep breath. We’ve got some heavy rumors to address regarding John Boyega and Black Panther. According to Heroic Hollywood, Boyega has had meetings with some folks over at Marvel. Normally a single rumor like that might not merit a heck of a lot of attention, but the folks over at @BestofMarvel also noted that Boyega snapchatted about a meeting. He didn’t say where exactly, or with whom, but in a strange coincidence (or perhaps not), Kevin freakin’ Feige followed Boyega on Twitter very soon after that. We’re talkin’ minutes, here, people.

It’s not that big of a stretch to think that Boyega could be popping up over in the Marvel-verse. As /Film’s Angie Han points out, Marvel and Lucasfilm are both owned by the same parent company (Disney), and they’ve had a tiny bit of overlap before; just check out Lupita Nyong’o, who stars in both The Force Awakens and Black Panther. That being said, it’s entirely possible that Feige just coincidentally followed Boyega at just the right (wrong?) time, and Boyega had a meeting with someone else completely.

Either way, the thought of Boyega in Black Panther makes me giddy. The man is talented, that’s for damn sure, and if anyone should be allowed to geek out with the best of them on set in a Marvel flick, it’s Boyega.

UPDATE: John Boyega will not be appearing in Black Panther, according to his reps and his U.K. agent. Come on. You knew this was a rumor. Full details over here.
