Like a Kingsman in the wind.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sir Elton John is in talks to join the Kingsman: The Secret Service sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle. It’s not clear yet who Sir John would be playing if he does join the film, although THR writes that the pop icon could be starring as himself.

The celebrated musician has famously brought his talents as a composer to movies like The Lion King, but his acting work is comparatively limited. Sir John played himself in Spice World and countless television shows, and provided narration in The Road to El Dorado (for which he also composed the music), but he’s rarely played a character in live-action productions. That’s not to say I don’t think he could play someone other than himself in The Golden Circle—I’d love to see him as a butt-kicking spyjust that I’m curious if his involvement in the film implies the Kingsman sequel will have a musical component as well. Regardless, this is super unexpected news, and makes me pretty curious/hype (hyperious?) for The Golden Circle. Not as hyperious as I’d be if The Spice Girls were rumored to be involved, but still.

Kingsman: The Golden Circle is directed by Matthew Vaughn and will reportedly feature Eggsy (Taron Egerton) and Merlin (Mark Strong) heading to America to visit the U.S. equivalent of Kingsman. Halle Berry and Julianne Moore are confirmed to star, and Kingsman: The Secret Service Colin Firth is rumored to be reprising his role. Also, I guess, we’re getting Elton John.
