First Look at Mads Mikkelsen in Doctor Strange Villain Garb

Plus Benedict Cumberbatch buying comics in full Strange costume.

The past few days have seen a real spat of Doctor Strange photos hitting the internet, and frankly, that’s pretty okay with me. Today proves to be no different as we’re treated with a first-look photo of Mads Mikkelsen in full villain garb. The photos don’t provide too many clues as to which villain he’ll be playing, though fan analysis has said that he’s playing Nightmare, Doctor Strange’s evil nemesis. According to Polygon, other theories say that he’s playing Kaluu, who has battled Strange in the comics before. There’s no official word, obviously, so this all stands as speculation.

In addition to this photo of what a Hannibal Marvel comic would look like, Benedict Cumberbatch treated fans to a bit of a fun surprise with a photo taken by the proprietor of one of New York City’s own comic book shops. According to Birth.Movies.Death, during a break in filming, Cumberbatch snuck into JHU Comic Books in full Doctor Strange garb to purchase a Doctor Strange comic book. For those keeping track at home, he bought Doctor Strange: The Oath, written by Brian K. Vaughan.

The adorable photo even shows he’s still got screen makeup on, complete with a nasty gash on the side of his cheek. Of course, battling the forces of evil can only stop you so much until you gotta get your comic fix. Honestly, I think Cumberbatch looks great as Strange, and these photos have got me plenty hyped up for the movie. We’re just seven (long) months from its release, so… it’ll have to do, I guess!
