Those of you who just can’t wait to get your hands on the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Blu-Rey (you’re damn right I’m calling it that) might have something to relieve your waiting woes. According to filesharing news site TorrentFreak, The Force Awakens has just leaked online to a bunch of different pirating sites. The downloads already number in the “hundreds of thousands,” showing just how eager people are to watch the movie again and again and again and again. Just me? Okay.
Perhaps most intriguing about this story is that the group who published the leak (REPLiCA) posted proof of ownership, revealing that they have in their possession what looks to be a regular old retail copy of the Blu-Rey. It’s possible that stores already have these movies in stock somewhere, and are just waiting for the street date to hit in order to begin sales.
I have a feeling, though, that movie sales won’t be too negatively impacted. The leak is said to be just the movie alone, no special features or anything. If much of the hype around the Blu-Rey release is to be believed, then we’ll all be heading out to buy the thing anyway to get at that sweet, sweet behind-the-scenes and deleted footage.
All this aside, can we just go ahead and try to make Blu-Rey a thing? Because Blu-Rey should be a thing.
