AMC Preacher Featurette Confirms Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg Are Huge Nerds

Lest there were any doubt that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who are Executive Producers on AMC’s upcoming Preacher series, were huge, giddy geeks, allow this short behind-the-scenes featurette to dispel that doubt.

For those who don’t know, Preacher is based on a Vertigo comic of the same name, written by Garth Ennis and drawn by Steve Dillon, about a Texas preacher named Jesse Custer who’s accidentally possessed by a supernatural being called Genesis, which is pure good and pure evil. Jesse’s pretty much the most powerful being in the world, and he goes on a search for God – with his awesome ex-girlfriend, Tulip, and an Irish vampire named Cassidy. Wackiness and supernatural hi-jinks ensue.

Dominic Cooper plays the titular preacher, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s (and Misfits‘!) Ruth Negga plays Tulip, and Joseph Gilgun plays Cassidy in the television adaptation, which will also be written and directed by Rogen and Goldberg, who are visibly giddy about getting to do this show based on a comic they clearly love.

Going by how AMC handled the adaptation of The Walking Dead, it’s fair to say that Preacher is in good hands. What do you think? Will you be watching?

Preacher premieres May 22 on AMC.
