Big damn YES, sir.

Well, this is some thrilling news to come out of pilot season. Deadline has released some info about an awesome new show that has cast goddess among mortals Gina Torres in the starring role–it’s called The Death of Eva Sofia Valdez.

Not only is Torres set to star, but it’s also being written by Cuban-American writer Charise Castro Smith and co-produced by Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters (a.k.a. two of the executive producers of Agent Carter and the current creative team on the Captain Marvel comic!). Soooo many awesome ladies that I don’t even know where to begin.

Here’s the plot synopsis of the show, which is being described as a “Cuban Macbeth“:

It centers on Eva Sofia Valdez (Torres), an immigrant who rose from rags to riches and is a celebrated Miami entrepreneur and a champion for immigrant rights. But the success of this “modern-day Havana-born Cleopatra” is fueled by an insatiable ambition that could destroy her family, a vendetta against the lover who betrayed her, and ghosts from the past who threaten to reveal the dark sacrifices Eva Sofia made to attain the American Dream.

To me, it sounds more like the female version of Count of Monte Cristo–which, for the record, I am all for. Yep. I’m in. I am so totally in. Who’s in with me?
