Daisy Ridley can now add another awesome title to her resume. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens star has signed on as executive producer of the first film to be entered into the Kids section at the Sundance Film Festival.
The Eagle Huntress, directed by Otto Bell, tells the true story of a 13-year-old Mongolian girl named Aisholpan whose aim is to become the first female Eagle Hunter in a tradition that has been dominated by men for over 2,000 years. With training and support from her father and grandfather, she works towards competing in the annual Golden Eagle Festival. Aisholpan and her family will be traveling to Park City for the premiere of the film on Sunday.
Ridley posted the announcement to her personal Instagram account yesterday, expressing her excitement over more people getting a chance to see The Eagle Huntress for themselves:
There’s no denying that Ridley’s role in Star Wars has made her a familiar face to many as well as a role model for many young girls who have seen the film, and it’s encouraging to see her not only embracing those tiny Rey fans everywhere but also finding ways to promote other strong female protagonists–especially the ones who exist in real life.
