Daredevil season 2 is going to bring some changes for the man without fear, not the least of which being two brand new characters: Elektra and the Punisher. As the second season approaches, we’ve got a new look at the series’ characters both new and old.

In Entertainment Weekly’s Daredevil spread, Punisher is described as (via a scan from Heroic Hollywood, which also features an image of Elektra)

a vigilante who has the same clean-up-the-streets mission as Murdock, except he uses guns instead of fisticuffs and simply murders every criminal he can find. Played by testosterone-radiating former Walking Dead star John Bernthal, he’s a merciless, binary-thinking antihero who simply wants to kill all the bad guys.

Sounds about right. They also offered details on Elektra from co-showrunner Doug Petrie:

Matt’s a deeply moral complicated guy, and she’s just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have. She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.

Oh, and MTV Comics also pointed out this similarity:

Maybe we’ll finally get some payoff on all that buildup about the choice between killing Kingpin and not killing him, which Daredevil never wound up being tested on in a real way in season one.

On a lighter note, there’s also a pic of some well-deserved relaxation time with some members the Nelson and Murdock team:

Somewhere, Foggy is busy crying and Claire Temple is busy being too good for him anyway—not like I’m bitter or anything.
