Jessica Chobot Stars As Samus Aran In A Short Live-Action Metroid Film

Recommended Videos

Remember that short Wonder Woman fan film from a couple years back? That was the work of Rainfall Films, who’ve now made another short film about one of genre fiction’s notable heroines: Samus Aran of the Metroid game franchise. Jessica Chobot stars as Samus, with America Young performing the motion-capture elements for the numerous impressive action sequences in this compelling short.

Calling this a “fan film” almost seems like a misnomer, given the slick production value and special effects on display, but that term is still technically correct, given that this isn’t an official Nintendo-licensed work. That’s not to say it wouldn’t be nice if Nintendo did get around to backing a Metroid feature film … but given that Nintendo’s only other forays into the world of film include the Super Mario Brothers movie and Pixels? Perhaps Metroid‘s better off in the capable hands of fans.

What do you think of Rainfall Films’ take on Samus Aran’s story?
