Boston Police Arrest Two Pokémon Worlds Players After Online Threat & Recover Two Firearms

Boston Police have arrested two players on their way to the 2015 Pokémon World Championships due to a tip about a Facebook post the pair made about the guns they planned to bring along. According to the BPD, Kevin Norton, 18, and James Stumbo, 27, were arrested and charged with “with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, and other firearm related charges.” A search warrant allowed the police to determine what the pair brought with them, pictured above: a 12-gauge Remington shotgun, a DPMS Model AR-15 rifle, several hundred rounds of ammunition, and a hunting knife.

Here’s the original Facebook post made by Stumbo:

Admittedly, this Facebook post does not make mention of the pair’s intent to use the guns, but it also fails to explain why these two men brought firearms and ammunition with them to the Championships at all — especially given the “unlawful possession” bit. Why on Earth?
