Jessica Chastain and Cecily Strong, the women on your BFF dream-board, are set to star in the romantic comedy Plus One. Written by April Prosser, the film will star Chastain as Rachel, a newly single woman who discovers herself in need of a wing-woman. However, all her friends are now married, and her only option is “loud, sexually oversharing wild card” Summer, whom Strong will portray.
The film’s script was acquired by Weinstein Productions last year, and is being produced by Gloria Sanchez Productions, a female-centric division of Gary Sanchez Productions led by Jessica Elbaum that focuses on producing funny women in film and TV.
It’s pretty great to see more women-driven comedies come out and while there’s no news yet about a director, I’m definitely looking forward to this!
