Marvel Comics Releasing One-Shots For ALL the Ladies! Peggy Carter, Agent May, Quake, and Mockingbird

SO MUCH LADIES.

Marvel is celebrating 50 years of SHIELD with a new series of one-shot comics – most of which feature rad-as-heck ladies!

Though Marvel hasn’t announced the artists for each book yet, here’s what titles and writers we’re getting:

  • FURY: David Walker
  • AGENT MAY: Jody Houser
  • MOCKINGBIRD: Chelsea Cain
  • QUAKE: Matt Rosenberg & Patrick Kindlon
  • AGENT CARTER: Kathryn Immonen

According to SHIELD editor Jon Moisan, “the link between these one-shots will be more thematic than story based. While characters from other stories in the series might show up in issues other than their own, the true tie between these is in the way they celebrate and pay respect to SHIELD’s past while creating really interesting ways for these characters to move forward.”

Moisan also says Peggy’s book will “shed some more light on her past and give some insight into her relationship with SHIELD,” while May will get to shine in her first-ever comic. The Quake book will “ill-in some of [her] backstory and explore her relationship with her father and previously unseen mother,” while the Mockingbird story will be “truly badass.”

And just look at all those lady writers! Houser is currently working on Orphan Black for IDW, Immonen is always bad-ass and has just wrapped Peggy’s five-issue Operation S.I.N. arc, and Cain is an NYT-bestselling thriller writer. Plus, it’ll be cool to see Skye’s Quake brought from Agents of SHIELD into the comics!

Are you going to be picking up these one-shots? I’m loving the current run of SHIELD, so I’m on board!
