Stan Lee Jokes Batman v Superman Would Make More Money With Him in It, Talks Avengers 2 Cameo

Shots fired, DC.

You asked for it, and Stan Lee will deliver: he will descend from his holy pedestal to grace The Avengers: Age of Ultron with his visage. It’s the first time he’s made a cameo in a Marvel movie since the last Marvel movie, so hold onto your hats and get ready to get curmudgeonly. He also teased Batman v Superman that it would make more money if he was in it. And, I mean, just look at that face.

At the London Film and Comic Con over the weekend, the Generalissimo appeared and talked about his role in Avengers 2 before moving on to take a good-natured swipe at DC. /Film reports that he hinted the cameo would maybe involve Captain America and Thor, as he said:

The movies have been great. We have been so lucky. We’ve got the best directors, the best special effects people and wonderful actors. People that had not been big stars before like the fellow who plays Thor—he’s wonderful! I was with him yesterday—I did my cameo of course [for Avengers: Age of Ultron]. And Chris who plays Captain America… He’s excellent.

Then he let DC in on a helpful tip to make a comic book movie a hit. He said, “DC could probably make a lot more money with Superman and Batman if they announced that I’d have a cameo in it! People wouldn’t believe it—they’d have to go to the theater to see it!”

Yeah, they’d have to sit through (what I’m guessing will be) two and a half hours of those gritty DC guys punching each other real hard to get their Stan Lee fix. That’s easily my favorite part of the comment, and I don’t even know if he realized that’s how it sounded. Never change, Stan Lee.
