Of course Halo got a lot of the attention this year with its high definition remakes and upcoming sequel, but Microsoft’s entire press conference focused on games today, and there sure were a lot of them. Here are the high points in case you didn’t have the time/desire to sit through the whole thing.
Halo: Master Chief Collection will bring all four main entries in the Halo franchise together in one, $59.99 package. It’ll come complete with all multiplayer maps, and Halo 2‘s multiplayer will now be playable in high definition, 1080p on the Xbox One. (They’re still promising some surprises on that front, though.)
The collection will also allow access to a Halo 5 multiplayer beta this December, which also has a trailer:
The Tomb Raider reboot is getting a sequel for the 2015 holiday season:
Microsoft made sure the indie community felt included this year, and we got a great trailer for Moon Studios’ Ori and the Blind Forest. Not much about the game was shown, but it looks like an incredibly beautiful moving cartoon:
We also got a look at Inside, the next game from Limbo‘s Playdead:
Fable Legends’ multiplayer was shown off, and it’ll be available in beta form this fall (sign up here). It also features “asymmetrical gameplay” similar to concepts Nintendo has been exploring with its Wii U gamepad:
There was also more gameplay footage for Dragon Age Inquisition, and Microsoft vaguely mentioned that Xbox One Inquisition players will have access to “premiere content.”
Project Spark also looked really great and now includes Conker, so that’s pretty exciting. It was a nice change of pace for one of these hardware manufacturer conferences to not talk too much about the hardware, even though it was probably due to hardware struggles being a soft spot for Microsoft right now.
