Brace Yourselves: Rumors Say The Matrix Is Getting a Prequel Trilogy

Which pill do I take where this ends up being good news?

The Matrix was a huge achievement in filmmaking both technically, visually, and in terms of story. The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions may not have been as bad as most people make them out to be, but let’s just say the news of a Matrix prequel trilogy has us… cautiously optimistic.

Latino Review broke the story that the Wachowskis have already started writing the next three installments in the franchise. The suspicion is that first of the new films will be ready to compete with Star Wars Episode VII.

There’s no official word about what the story would entail, and Warner Bros. will probably deny any of it at this point. It makes sense that the movies would show the war with the machines and how the Matrix was put into place. If I were asked to write them, the first would be about the war. The second would end on the machines claiming victory and enslaving humanity in the Matrix, and the third would be about the first group to break out and resist. That’s just me.

This also isn’t the first time rumors of more Matrix films have cropped up, so take these rumors for what they are.
