Make up Your Own Spell and Enter to Win Prizes from the Harry Potter Gift Guide

Accio presents!

Christmastime is approaching, and while shopping for other geeks isn’t the worst thing ever, it can still be hard to pick out exactly the right present. Warner Brothers wants to make things easier this holiday season with their Harry Potter Gift Guide, and they’re giving away presents from this year’s guide to one lucky Geekoreader.

The Prize:

First, there’s a nifty Harry Potter themed 2014 special edition wall calendar, which is full of “fan-favorite” images for each month of the year, as well as an awesome pop-up Diagon Alley, so you can reenact shopping for wizard supplies with all your action figures. You know, if that’s what you’re into.

Next, we’ve got a wand from the Harry Potter collectible series. We’re pretty sure, judging by the packaging, that it’s the wand of Albus Dumbledore, and you know what that means, nerds — the Elder Wand!

Finally, we’ve got a set of Horcrux Bookmarks. Shh. Don’t think about how weird the idea of owning all seven pieces of Voldemort’s soul and using them to hold your place in a book might be. Just look at how pretty these are!

You get Marvolo Gaunt’s ring (that’s right, between the Elder Wand and the Resurrection Stone, you’re getting two of the Deathly Hallows!), Tom Riddle’s diary, Helga Hufflepuff’s goblet, Rowena Ravenclaw’s diadem, Salazar Slytherin’s locket, Voldemort’s pet snake, Nagini, and a single lightning bolt representing the boy who lived himself, Harry Potter.

All in all, it’s over a $60 value. Unless you’re trying to kill Voldemort, of course — then it’s probably priceless.

How To Win:

First, you have to follow us on Twitter at @Geekosystem. That’s because if you don’t follow us, we can’t DM you that you’ve won, and we’ll be forced to give the prize to someone else who we are able to contact. It’s happened before.

Now that you’re following us on Twitter, all you have to do is come up with your own Potterverse spell and tweet it at us @Geekosystem using the hashtag #hpgiftguide13. You have to mention both us and the hashtag, or we might not see your entry, and you won’t get picked to win. For inspiration, check out some of the linguistic origins of these now-classic spells.

You have until midnight on Tuesday, December 17th — after that, we’ll pick one at random as the winner and message you directly for your address.

One final caveat: Warner Brothers has restricted the contest to U.S. residents only. Sorry, guys.

Thanks so much to Warner Brothers for setting this up! Be sure to check out the rest of the Harry Potter Gift Guide over at their site to get presents for all the witches and wizards in your life.
