The 30th Anniversary Capcom Character Encyclopedia will remind you that Nintendo is not the only juggernaut of memorable video game characters. The handy book sports over 200 full page Capcom character profiles complete with character art, stats, and bios. It’s the perfect coffee table book for any gamer, and it’s available just in time for the holiday season.

As the back of the book puts it,

Celebrate 30 wonderful years with some of the most famous characters in the history of videogames. Featuring more than 200 Capcom characters from Ada Wong to Zero.

Luckily, unlike Streetfighter X Tekken, they’ve left out Box Art Mega Man.

Of course, all of the information in the book and more can be found on the Internet, but having it all compiled in a physical book makes for an impressive testament to Capcom’s accomplishments in gaming. It’s also nice to have it all in one place with no distractions.

If you’re a gamer in any sense, you can’t look at this book without it tugging on your nostalgia strings. It’s like having a scrapbook of your life in games. The book will also tell you each character’s most recent game appearance if you’re looking to try a game you might have missed.

Really, the encyclopedia’s straightforward approach is one of its best selling points. The entire book is a table of contents for quick reference and then just over 200 pages of character profiles. It delivers exactly what you’d expect without any fluff, which easily justifies its relatively low $16.99 price tag.

If we can take a minute to fanboy out, Capcom is responsible for genre-defining titles such as Mega Man, Street Fighter, Resident Evil and more. Hopefully this book will raise awareness of what they’ve done to improve all of our lives.
