There’s A Parallel Universe where Evangeline Lilly Played Wonder Woman in a Joss Whedon Film

Great Hera!

It’s unclear which since-abandoned Wonder Woman adaptation Evangeline Lilly discussed starring in with Hollywood execs once upon a time, but I think we can all agree that alternate time line Justice Lord!Wonder Woman’s costume is pretty freakin’ great. And you can’t even see the fierce pixie cut she’s rocking in this screen shot.

Evangeline Lilly has rocked the ever more starved audience for a Wonder Woman movie by telling MTV News that she “met on Wonder Woman” in the mid-2000s. From the video:

Wonder Woman was my favorite superhero as a little girl. And I actually went in and met on Wonder Woman at one point, before the thing kind of fell apart, [before] it was like “No way, it’s not going to happen.” That was early-early, that was first season in Lost before I’d kind of gone, “Wait a minute. I don’t know if I want to do this.”

I still have a huge girl crush on Wonder Woman, I think she’s amazing. Would I want to jump into a franchise like that at this point? I don’t know.

The wait-a-minute moment that Lilly refers to is her withdrawal from acting full time after the completion of Lost, to focus on humanitarian efforts, among other things (very What Would Diana Do, if I may say so myself).

Of course everyone who wants to bask in the glow of the idea of a mid-2000s Wonder Woman feature film is of course wondering: did Lilly meet to star in the script that Joss Whedon was working on for Warner Bros. at the time? MTV has done a bunch of rumor remembering, and come to the conclusion that they’re not quite sure. It could have been the script Whedon worked on, and it could have been the Justice League project that Warner Bros. turned to next, after giving up on Whedon’s ideas.

Either way, we can’t say we wouldn’t have welcomed a Lilly Wonder Woman. Somebody invent that parallel universe jumping machine already.
