Here’s Where Episode VII Is Holding Open Casting Calls. Road Trip!

What types of characters are they looking for? Is one of them perhaps a 5'4" blogger with social anxiety issues, excellent taste in films, and a bejeesuston of freckles? Do I need to take an impromptu vacation? Head behind the jump to find out.

Alack, it doesn’t look like I’ll be in Episode VII, as if my absolute lack of acting talent didn’t already shoot that Bantha in the face. Via The Hollywood Reporter:

Casting director Maryellen Aviano will be in Chicago Nov. 14 in search of young actors to fill two roles. One will be for a female in the 17-18 range to play a character named Rachel. She is described as a “street smart, independent, athletic, natural beauty,” with the role open to “all ethnicities, multi & bi-racial.” [Author note: Yay for them clearly stating that!]

A male in the 19-23 range is also being sought to play a character described as “athletic, smart, handsome,” and “independent spirited.” The character, named Thomas, has “grown up without a father’s influence. Without the model of being a man, he doesn’t have the strongest sense of himself.”

These two characters match the descriptions we’ve heard before. Previously we heard that Rachel is an orphan and Thomas “[grew] up without a father’s influence,” which would seem to indicate that neither of them are Skywalker or Solo kids… or maybe they are and just don’t know it. This is Star Wars, after all.

If you’re a combination of athletic, handsome, a natural beauty, and a good actor A) I dislike you already, and B) you can audition to be in Star Wars: Episode VII at Chicago’s Park West event space from 3pm – 8pm this Thursday, November 14th., though I’m going to go out on a limb and say you won’t be able to stroll in at 7:55 like Obi-Wan disabling the Death Star’s tractor beam.

If you’re not in the Chicago area you can also submit your application online. That same link has information on future casting calls, which are taking place in Troy, MI (11/17); Austin, TX (11/22); and Nashville, TN (11/24). No previous acting experience is required.

Can we all agree that if one of our readers gets a role they’ll pull some strings and get the Mary Sue staff a set visit? Please?
