Michelle Obama’s Let Girls Learn initiative partnered with Girl Rising for 62 Million Girls, a social campaign that aims to highlight the need for girls’ education worldwide. The number refers to the amount of girls not in school. Obama was at the New York Global Citizen Festival, where she announced the campaign, saying:
I see myself in these girls. I see my daughters in these girls. These girls are our girls, and I simply can’t walk away from them. So for me, this is truly a moral issue.
Many have shared support on Instagram and Twitter, and the website features a “Yearbook” of these tweets.
