Unbeatable Squirrel Girl Is Being Relaunched, Same Great Team, Same Great Flavor

This is Squirrel Girl Classic. Not some "new" Squirrel Girl formula.

That didn’t take long. Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is getting a relaunch, with a brand new #1 issue. Worry not, though, it’ll have the great same old team with the great same old flavor. I mean humor. I mean… nuts. In an interview with Newsarama, Ryan North and Erica Henderson shared some details about what’s ahead for the All-New All-Different (but still the same old) Now-Avenger Squirrel Girl.

With this relaunch comes a skip ahead in time, as we’ll be re-entering Doreen’s story eight months into the future from where we last left off. She’s an I.D. carrying Avenger now, but it’s business as usual for her. North explained:

Yeah, for Doreen it’s great to get the recognition, but it doesn’t change who she is. I imagine if you gave her the Nobel Prize she’d be all ‘Oh cool, thanks! This is really awesome and also – quite unexpected?’ but the next day she’d be back to eating nuts and kicking butts, as usual.

Beating up big baddies is part and parcel of being an Avenger, and it won’t be any different for her here, either. When asked about what possible enemy she could face next after Galactus, North said:

I can’t, because it would be a huge spoiler, and nobody wants to be spoiled on their comics when they’re reading an interview like this!  But I will say that Doreen’s never been one to shy away from a confrontation just because someone’s ‘stronger’ than she is – witness the Squirrel Girl vs Galactus showdown from our earlier this year! – so everyone is on the table. Let me be perfectly clear: there is not a single person in the Marvel Universe safe from Squirrel Girl.

Frankly, we’re super excited to see what’s in store for Doreen. Unbeatable Squirrel Girl has been a highlight of our pull lists for quite some time, so this relaunch is pretty exciting. It’s business as usual but with an all-new all-different number. Yeah! Check out the full interview over at Newsarama for more on the relaunch.
