Things We Saw Today: A New Shot of Batgirl

DC Comics is releasing free copies of a preview book for their New 52, including this great shot of Batgirl. (DC Women Kicking Ass)

This is a pretty great article about the loneliness Madeline L’Engle felt as a child, and the nature of creativity (At Geekery Online)

“But unless we are creators we are not fully alive. What do I mean by creators? Not only artists, whose acts of creation are the obvious ones of working with paint or clay or words. Creativity is a way of living life, no matter our vocation or how we earn our living. Creativity is not limited to the arts, or having some kind of important career.”

We wish the world were run on Mario Dollars … (At EPICPonyz)

We would use our Mario Dollars to buy Batman dresses and it would be marvelous. (At Global Geek News)

Someone drew fan art of each of the core characters of Community (except Chevy Chase’s Pierce) paired off with each other. The ships! THE SHIPS!

Things may be looking up for the guy who got turned down by Betty White yesterday: Terminator‘s Linda Hamilton turned the tables on the whole Marine/Celeb thing and asked him out! Check out the video below. (At The Daily What)

OH MY GOD LINDA HAMILTON. This is the best advertisement for the marines ever. Forget all that chintzy “Army of One” crap with the bloated effects budget and choppy editing. Just give me Linda Hamilton in a black tank top and shades, with a rose between her teeth and a shotgun pointed at me saying, “Move it, Soldier!”

The Batgirl image disturbs me.  Maybe it’s because she appears to be flying a kite that’s somewhere off panel.  Maybe it’s that her hair seems to be flowing free behind her, but there’s no apparent opening in her mask for it to emerge from.  Or maybe it’s that she seems to have a pair of landing strips painted on her inner thighs.

Yeah, I think it’s mostly that last one.

(Army of One was an ad campaign for the army, not the marines…just sayin’…)

My next question is, what’s that on her foot? Is she booting an alien thing or am I just not looking properly?

The ‘landing strips’ on her thighs I initially thought were quite HR Giger/Alien. Now I’m not so sure. Maybe it needs colour.

Wish Linda Hamilton would ask me out!  Some folks have all the luck …

Wait, good point. The marines was the one where they’re climbing a cliff and then get swords, right?

Yeah, I’m still gonna go with Linda.

The dress looks like something you could make with a bedsheet, and I mean that in a fun DIY way (see http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=118888.0).

Hahaha yeah, dude. They line up in this line, and they’re all over the place…silly marines.
